MEANWHILE...BACK IN YEMEN

140 people were killed and over 500 injured when at least one Saudi jet attacked the hall where people were attending a wake for the father of Brigadier Jalal al-Ruweishan, of the Houthi-led government in Yemen.

After initially denying the attack, a statement from the Arab Coalition admitted to it, saying it was due to “incorrect information”.

Since the war began in March early 2015, civilians have been repeatedly targeted at weddings, schools, hospitals and market places.

The Saudi Arabian-led War in Yemen began in 2015 in support of Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi who was removed from government by Houthis. The Saudis are supported by neighbouring Arab states, along with the United States, who provide intelligence and logistical support, including aerial refueling and search and rescue support, as well as providing military personnel in command and control centres to support Saudi-led air strikes.

Between 2009 and 2015 the US and Saudi Arabia signed deals potentially worth more than 100 billion. The British government is also a supporter. Ministers in Westminster have repeatedly rejected calls to halt weapons sales to Saudi Arabia. Prime Minister Theresa May, defended the sales saying the UK's relationship with Saudi Arabia "helped to keep people on the streets of Britain safe". Since the strikes on Yemen began last year, 3.5 billion in arms was sold by Britain to Saudi Arabia.
